Hampi is one of the most important historic & religious places in India.
This was the capital of the Hindu empire, Vijayanagara, who ruled south India from the 14th to the 16th century. Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spread over an area more than 25 square kilometres (10 square miles), Hampi is packed with giant temples, palaces, market streets, aquatic structures, fortifications and many other ancient monuments.

The Jog in Shimoga District is the tallest water fall in India. Here the river Sharavati jumps from a height of 293mts into four beautiful cascades . The best time to visit is during July to October after the summer rains.
The worlds tallest monolithic statue measuring 17 m high. Is 51 Kms from Hassan and can be reached by road. An important Jain pilgrim centre. The Gommateshwara statue at Sravanabelagola is a magnificently rendered figure,

symbolic of the glorious state of Jainism in the 10th century A.D. The gigantic proportions of the sculpture have not reduced the sense of feeling and life in the sculpture. The body is perfectly proportioned and reflects effectively the serenity of a soul in search of enlightenment. It is the world’s tallest monolithic statue.
There are hill forts at Nandi Hill, Savanadurga, Madhugiri, Pavagada, Midigeshi in Tumkur district, Ucchangi near Davanagere and Sandur (both in Bellary district). There are game sanctuaries at Nagarhole, Bandipur and Dandeli, and the Ranganathittu Bird's Sanctuary.
